DOCTOR’S LIFE CHANGES WITH LASIK AT BOOTHE EYE CARE & LASER CENTER
Podiatrist has improved life thanks to LASIK
When Dr. Reza Mobarak’s eyes became dry and irritated from wearing contacts in the cool air conditioning of the operating room, he knew it was time to do something about it.
“One of my friends, a Dallas Cowboy football player, had LASIK surgery and told me how great it was,” said Dr. Mobarak. “I had worn glasses since junior high school contacts during the day and glasses at night. I was tired of it. But I am very nearsighted. I can’t see more than a foot in front of me without my lenses.”
Dr. Mobarak, a podiatrist specializing in foot, ankle and sports injuries, completed his residency at Central Alabama Health Care System last summer. He then moved to Dallas and established a private medical practice in Arlington.
Wearing contacts hasn’t only been a challenge for him in the operating room. It’s also been a problem while playing sports. For many years, Dr. Mobarak was a professional body builder and competed in contests. Although he no longer has the time required to remain a professional, he still enjoys working out with weights. “When I was lifting, the sweat would get in my eyes,” says the doctor. “I’d go to wipe my eyes and the contacts would move out of place. It was very frustrating.”
LASIK surgery seemed like an attractive alternative to the frustration of corrective eyewear. First, the doctor spent two or three months doing research, learning more about laser vision correction and making sure to identify the right surgeon. “I wanted to make sure because our eyes are one of the most important assets we have. Without good eyesight, it would be difficult to see what I’m working on and a challenge to pursue my medical career.“
Last fall, Dr. Mobarak selected Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center in Plano, based on Dr. William Boothe’s reputation, experience and location. Was he happy with his decision? “It’s been great,” says the podiatrist. “My vision is now 20/15 and I’ve thrown out my lenses. In fact, the day after my LASIK procedure, I performed surgery. I was completely pain-free, without any complications.”
Time is also an important factor, given today’s fast-paced lifestyle. By not having to put in his contact lenses, Dr. Mobarak estimates he gains at least an extra 10 minutes every morning a major advantage if you need to be in the operating room at a specific time.
Perhaps the best testimonial for LASIK surgery is when you refer a friend or colleague. Dr. Mobarak has not only referred three or four friends to Dr. William Boothe and the Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center, but now his wife Shela also has decided to have the procedure done as well. And in March of next year, Dr. Mobarak is planning to give his brother, Raha, a fourth year medical student, a special Islamic New Year’s present laser vision correction with Dr. William Boothe.
“At Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center, we always hope to exceed our patients’ expectations. It is very rewarding when our clients are satisfied with their results, and to have them refer their family members to our center,” said Dr. William Boothe. “It is also an honor to improve the eyesight of a fellow physician. Good eyesight is not a luxury; it is something that every person deserves.”
A WELCOME CHANGE.
LASIK AT BOOTHE EYE CARE & LASER CENTER
A devoted father and firefighter enjoys new view on life with Boothe Lasik.
“Having Boothe LASIK at Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center with Dr. William Boothe is the best decision I ever made!” exclaims Jeremy Lampier of Red Oak, Texas.
Being a father is a full-time job, one made even more difficult when your vision is poor. But that was not the only obstacle facing Mr. Lampier. He works as a wireless technician, and in his spare time, volunteers with the Red Oak Fire Department. On a daily basis, he is required to work with the smallest of electronic pieces and wiring. It is his job to replace, fix, remove and manage tiny details inside larger technology.
When he is called to help extinguish a fire, he must quickly change into heavy gear that must stay secure while he is in the trenches. “In the past, when called to a fire, I was always concerned with my gear staying on around my face and being able to see what I needed to see to get the job done. You can’t wear glasses under those things, you have to wear special goggles, and they need to remain secure while you’re fighting a fire.”
A twist to Jeremy’s story comes in the form of an allergy. He is one of many millions of Americans who are allergic to metal. It’s not a big problem, unless you wear glasses and have to deal with metal frames on a daily basis. “My allergic reaction to metal frames has made wearing glasses uncomfortable, and at times has been very frustrating for me,” he says. “I had to switch to pure titanium frames many years ago. They are not cheap and were costing me a bundle. Having LASIK with Dr. William Boothe in Plano has not only allowed me to have a renewed sense of family and do my job better, but it also has saved me a lot of money in the long run!”
Mr. Lampier decided to undergo Boothe LASIK surgery at Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center in Plano so he could finally be more involved with his family, his kids and their activities. He selected Dr. William Boothe because of his wealth of knowledge and years of experience. He knew that Dr. William Boothe has been in practice since 1987 and has performed more than 60,000 LASIK procedures, making him among the most experienced LASIK surgeons in the metroplex.
“I have recovered wonderfully from the surgery,” says Mr. Lampier. He has not had to deal with any issues, like dry eyes or other problems. Mr. Lampier credits his pleasant and easy surgery to the vast experience of Dr. William Boothe’s staff, Dr. William Boothe himself and the friendliness of all those who cared for him.
Mr. Lampier has discovered many benefits from his recent LASIK surgery. His night vision has greatly improved, a benefit that is very important if you live in this part of the state. If you have ever lived in Texas, you know you have to drive pretty far to get anywhere interesting. Another great change has come in the morning for Jeremy when the alarm goes off - there is no more reaching and fumbling for an incessant noise with no shape. Hobbies like swimming and softball also have become more enjoyable without his glasses constantly falling off and getting ruined.
“Undergoing LASIK surgery with Dr. William Boothe was the best decision I have ever made,” he says. “I can see perfectly now. I can see my kids when they smile, when they laugh, when they cry. And a funny thing is that I can wear my cool sunglasses again. In Texas, everybody wears sunglasses, and I always missed wearing them. When you wear glasses, your sunglasses have to be prescription, but those days are over!“
